I need a theme song…No kidding

Needed: a great high energy intro song

Next month, I am speaking for the National Exchange Carriers Association at their annual meeting in California. Apparently, as their speakers are coming to the stage, they play a song to welcome the speaker on stage and I need one…this week. I have thought about a few songs that I really like the beat to but the words don’t seem to fit. SO, I am turning to the power of the web in hopes that someone out there will suggest the perfect song.

Ruled out: You are my Sunshine, the Hookie Pookie, most popular songs from my high school or college years, Wind Beneath My Wings, ANYTHING by Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, or Lindsay Lohan, rap music (is that an oxymoron or what?). What do you think? Tell me your song and why you think I should use it and you’ll win a fabulous prize (okay, I made the prize part up).

I am also speaking for the Brain Injury Association of Michigan next month. My contact there sent me this link to a story about her daughter who wanted to do something to encourage our service men and woman defending our country. I’m so impressed that this teenagaer spent countless hours putting a tribute together for those in far off lands keeping us safe.

Here’s the news clip and here’s the entire presentation she made.

This sounds like a fun project! I’ll get the ball rolling over at my blog: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/QueenoftheHill/372373/

Thanks for making me think of this … I won’t be able to get it out of my head all day! But, in the midst of the first full day of school … maybe in AJ’s mind this is appropriate!

    Good luck!

I still like John Mayer’s Waiting on the World To Change. At first glance it may sound like it’s encouraging a lax on a generation’s part to get active…but I think really it sums up the frustration the rising gen has for the problems it’s being left with and how important activism is; it’s paradoxical but it’s an urge to *stop* waiting and get going…the emphasis being “change needs to happen”. The beat is spunky yet cool and I can see you striding up on the stage with a smile on your face ready to encourage your audience to stop waiting and GET going!

Thanks to you all for suggesting songs:
    1) Queen, as you know your ARE royalty (and now you have the boat to prove it!). Thank you. Can you bring some of the CD’s when we cruise with you this week?
2)Amy, I don’t know this song but like the words. Thanks for the suggestion.
    3) Sarah, I fully expected that comment and now after thinking about it, I see leading the audience in the motions of the Y-M-C-A as I am coming out (dressed in vintage Village People attire to boot.
4). Tia, I couldn’t remember the John Mayer song. Thanks for the reminder.

Next week, I’ll pose a fashion question for you all…

Rick recommended “Right Now”, by Van Halen. Google it…it’s awesome. Maybe all the young people won’t remember it and will think you are so hip and original. JK, you know you are hip!!!

Leigh you have come out! Interestingly, I used the music from Right Now for one of my first keynote speaker demo’s. I like the energy of that song. Know it will be considered. Everyday I look in the mirror and say, “I am hip! I am hip! I am hip!” Someday, I’ll hopefully believe it.
